Soil Testing & AmendmentsSoil testing is a diagnostic tool for suspected soil health and fertility problems. Soil testing can also provide useful information for landscaping decisions such as what species of tree to plant. An ISA Certified Arborist will collect a soil sample from your property to be sent to a lab for testing and analyzed for its physical properties and nutrient availability. The soil test results can aid in the diagnosis of plant diseases and disorders and detect a nutrient deficiency in the soil or other soil imbalances that can affect tree and plant health. The client will be provided with a soil report and recommendations for tree care and/or soil amendments with a quote for soil amendment services.
Pricing for Soil Testing is based on number of samples required and client location. If you have concerns regarding soil nutrients for gardening or shrub/tree/turf growth, we recommend having your soil tested. Soil testing can allow us to make soil amendment recommendations specific to your soil's needs. Soil testing may also be recommended if trees or shrubs are showing symptoms of particular nutrient deficiencies or soil imbalances such as yellow leaves, early fall colour, or leaf drop. How Long does testing take? Soil testing takes between 1-2 weeks, from sampling, shipping to testing. What does the lab Test for? Organic matter, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and base saturation of cations + fertilizer recommendations. We can test for additional micronutrients for an additional fee. |
